Fire Engines Photos

I think I have found a picture of this when it was first delivered to station in the Late fifties early sixties.
My Grandfather was a firefigher and then went on to become Station officer at Sandown (I.W).
The Photo I have seen is of newly delivered appliance with himself and crew, outside station. will see if I can find it.

I now have more details. JDL 540 and 541 were built by HCB on a Commer 21A chassis in 1952 as dual purpose (DP) appliances and carried a Merryweather 55' escape. They had a 100 gall tank and side mounted controls(just visible) Source Aidan Fisher "A Pictorial Record", p7.

Looks like yet another Commer without front doors, looking at all that extra wood framing above the wheel arch.

Hopefully it has been preserved and restored, because Commer pump escapes were comparatively rare...
