Came across this Bedford reg no LYO803 at a farm sale in Oxfordshire in about 1992 says Culham Laboratory on the side looks like it hadn't run for many a year

From the Reg No I think it is one of the very early ones. The prototype was LYO reg. Anyone know if it's still extant?

For anyone who is interested, LYO 804 survives in preservation. It saw service in Norfolk after the AFS along with LYO 805.

I Drove this at Culham labs, 1981, it was out second appliance. Bloody crash box was lethal if you did not get the gear change right.

Brilliant pumping machine.

Culham Laboratoy is still there it hosts the JET project as well as others. The fire service is no longer a fire service.

It is now a private security company running the show, the fire engines and ambluance has now gone. When I started we had 3 watches each with 12 men on a watch this was the amount of cover that was required at the time.

Robin,
Suprised to hear that projects are still taking place without the cover previously mentioned! Still thats progress!??
I trained with Pete Fathers and Norman "Geordie" Watson , do you remember them!
