Cab roof of the two Fords economic were obviously intended for two blue lights, but someone wanted to save a few quid! Quite a contrast to the numbers of lights on newer units, which can be as many as a dozen….

The unusual arrangement, of the blue flashing lights, was due to Surrey Fire Brigade's strict interpretation of the road traffic regulations. Surrey appliances, from the 1970s, had one blue light at the front, and one at the rear. However, each light was partially blanked off, so only one light could be seen.
