Hi, do you know this history of this Karrier? I think LPM may be an East Sussex registration?

Hello don't know any history for this one but you are correct with the registration LPM is East Sussex 1956 the PM series of Reg marks was Guildford from 1974 onwards The name SINFIN on the cab door is a suberb of Derby ? was this because the Rolls Royce factory is at Sinfin and that looks to be the badge above the Sinfin name? Did it wirk there?
This appliance(LPM9)was registered in 1955 and is a Commer Karrier?/Carmichael Water Tender.I can't find any other information at this time.

Thanks shaun, I did suspect you may know the answer! We know where several ex East Sussex 1960's machines are now, must almost have enough for a fleet re-union!

Hi Tractorpaul, you are right about Sinfin being at Derby. Rolls-Royce built the famous airoplane engine 'The Merlin' at this plant in the 2nd W.W. and maintained their own fire brigade there.
A Mr Keith Green of Spondon I believe was the Station Officer there and received this appliance on disposal and put it on the show circuit for some years. I photographed it in 1995 at the Derby Show. My information was a 1956 Commer Karrier Gamecock Wr.T. LPM9. Keith also owned a 1943 Austin K4 P.T.L. 60ft Merryweather Ladder Reg.No. GXN.219. I also photographed on 20/7/1999 and a 1942 Leyland Titan TD7 Merryweather 100ft T.L. Reg.No. GLW.410, both in N.F.S. livery and perfect condition. Keith sold all 3 and moved to Spain some 10 years ago, but I got his Rolls-Royce cork helmet for my collection.
Thanks Graham If my memory is correct GXN219 the Austin turntable came to our tractor rally at Thoresby Park a couple of times in the late 80's also we used to get a Dennis F8 ? HM Dockyard Trimco ? owned by Nigel Bayes ? somewhere I have a photo of it but have not seen this one around for many years, You may gather fire engines are not my strong point I am more into the vintage tractor world
all the above comments are correct apart from that LPM 9 was co-owned by Gary Frearson & Keith Green, when Keith went to Spain Gary ran the appliance on his own for several more years, it was then bought by George Fell of Louth. I am not certain who owns the appliance now but I do know that the appliance is still on the rally circuit somewhere in the midlands region.
I remember the appliance on station at Keymer in 1964/5 when my father was a retained fireman. He used to take me when it was his turn to wash it and fuel it on weekend. I have a picture of my uncle who was the Station Lead Officer fixing the Keymer plate to it when it arrived in 1956. I would love to know who owns it now.
