This picture was taken by Lester Solway and is published with his permission. It shows the working end of the Bedford Tk/Wincanton Motors Water Carrier from Bridgwater in use at a Cottage Fire on the edge of Westonzoyland airfield, Somerset in 1979.

A similar plumbing arrangement to that installed on Cambridgeshire's RL tanker in the early 1960s. This provided three alternative modes of operation:

1- Direct suction delivery to another appliance.
2- Relay under pressure utilizing the portable pump in place, as illustrated here.
3- Remote use of the PP at a hydrant or open water source.

Or a combination of 1 and 3, if required...
