This appliance looks a little more - dare I say it - a little more European than the usual US Beasts we get to view on this site. But then again, I've just noticed it's actually an ambulance, an ambulance that bears a vague passing resemblance to a European fire truck! Just ignore me; it's my age!
Funny you should mention this vehicle's resemblence to a fire truck, Yelp. Furion has plans to offer this model as a transport capable light fire appliance. Many fire departments here in the US run as either co-responders or full service EMS. For a lot of departments, volunteer, retained, or whole time, @ 80 per cent of their runs are EMS. The remainder consist of small fires, standbys, RTAs, etc. Only a small number are structure fires. Not every response needs a WrT.
I read in Fire Apparatus Journal that the LFA/Ambulance would have a small pump, 2 reels of hose, @ 760L of water. Past that, there were no further details.
Actually, if you put British style lockers on the side, a pump at the rear and ladders on the roof it would make a very acceptable type b water tender ladder of the type used the length and breadth of the united kingdom and make a very refreshing change from the usual Scania's /Volvo converted trucks we have to put up with.. so spartan give it a go, I know they tried in the late eighties but it was too big and too heavy but this looks right.
