Kilo 24.2 Harlech
In tribute to a friend and valued member of the Fire Service in the days when I was a lot younger and upto the present, here is Dodge G8685/Carmichael PL from Gwynedd station 24 Harlech. Placed in the sun in 1992 by another friend, John "Llaeth" Williams. Gareth Wynn Rees joined Gwynedd Fire Service in 1988 and on Tuesday 5th January 2010 aged 50, Gareth was walking home after drilling with his colleagues at Station 13 Harlech when the terrible weather hit and he fell hitting his head on the ground. After vain attempts by paramedics, Gareth passed away some time later. To Gareth, gone but not forgotten. Sic transit gloria mundai.

I read about this in the Daily Post, all the sadder that the amount of times he had risked his life but to then lose it in a tragic accident.

just back from a shout and was looking for a photo i posted , can you ,the crew at harlech and of course Gareths family please accept our condolences and best regards , Watch Manager Alan Ramsay and all i am sure at Tayside Fire and Rescue ,i am sure Gareth will be remembered fondly by many.................

I also read about this very tragic accident, what a terrible event, a sad loss to his family, friends, collogues and the community in which Gareth served. Turning out at the drop of a hat as these dedicated retained firefighters do day in day out. RIP.
