Further to Pic #21301; here are the 2 Suction Hoses in the Fish-Pond. Fairly shallow here, so they have to be buoyed up, to prevent sucking in all the bottom-muck, and kept below the surface, to avoid drawing in air, ice and other floating stuff.
The crew has tied an orange plastic buoy to the smaller Suction Hose of the 500 IGPM Portable Pump(2270 litres/minute).
The red metal Floating Strainer belongs to the larger Suction Hose of the 1050 IGPM(4775 lpm) Pumper; it is a hinging device, to allow for different angles of the Suction Hose, and infamous for nipping the fingers of the unwary, when coupling it up....
With the recent Cold Snap in Britain and Europe; I hope that not too many of you are having to run a set-up like this !
