Thanks for posting the major specifications of the truck. The only thing I don't like about Cobb Co's engines is that they don't have a booster reel on them, they use a "trash" line instead.

Booster Reels - read somewhere, in a professional magazine, that officials were concerned that First-Arriving crews were pulling off the handy Booster Reel line, rather than a pre-connected Hosebed line; and then finding them-selves in a bigger fire than anticipated, with an inadequate line.....

The 'Fix' seems to be outright removal/deletion of this handily useful line, from Apparatus/New Apparatus Designs; to protect the Crews, from themselves...Health & Work-place Safety....liabilities & etc.

The Cobb engines have a pre-connected 1" 100' line in the front bumper, which replaced the booster reel. According to the Leuitenant showing me his truck, it was a cost cutting measure.

I have been told by other engine officers that booster reels are no longer allowed, but have been unable to quote any specific directive.

In the "New Deliveries" sections of the magazines I get, some engines, and the occaissional Quint still have booster reels installed. It appears to be a local preference. I know of one FD that uses it for an attack line with CAFS.

Hi The Fireman. If the snowchain is the same, as the device we in Sweden, call Onspot, they are not automatic! You must push a button on the dashboard, so they will work! And don't drive over 30 mph (50 km)!
