Birsfelden Oldtimer Fire appliance pumperThis lovely fire truck is a former pumper of the voluntary fire brigade of Birsfelden (Switzerland). The Mercedes-Benz LAF 312 4x4 was in service from 1957 until 1992 and has been finally replaced by a new pumper tanker (see pic 2108). The fire truck has recently been fully refurbished by former firemen of this fire brigade and can celebrate his 50th anniversary this year. Truck, pump and equipment are still functioning. The bodywork came from the old German factory Gebr. Bachert. There are still the original wooden seating in the back of the cab. The water tank has a capacity of 2400 ltr. In 1957, this appliance was the first pumper tanker in the northern part of Switzerland.
