An Extra Very Special Christmas Present.I'd like to be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year where ever you may be with this special Christmas Card.
This picture shows the old Lancing Fire Station in West Sussex which was opened around 1936 next to the Parish Hall,it closed in 1969.The station still stands today and is now actually part of the Parish Hall itself, you have to enter through the old fire station building now before entering the old Parish Hall which was built around the same time as the fire station.
At the forming of the West Sussex Fire Brigade back in 1948,a 1940 Ford Thames 7V Heavy Unit, and a 1943 Austin ATV(Auxiliary Towing Vehicle)and Trailor Pump operated from this station. In 1955 though,Lancing was to recieve a Karrier(Gamecock)Carmichael(reg-SPX 562)WrT which is depicted in this picture. This 1955 Karrier/Carmichael WrT was to remain in active service as 1st pump, then 2nd pump along side a 1960 Bedford J5/HCB WrT until finally going out of service in 1972.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
