Somerset Bedford TK DYD627J

This picture was taken by Lester Solway and is reproduced with his permission. It shows the Bedford TK Water Tender DYD627J from Shepton Mallet in attendance at an alarms operating call at the Mendip Hospital in Wells. Some of the wards warranted a four pump attendance this usually comprised of two pumps from Wells and two from Shepton. However a stop message was usually sent before the second pump from Shepton booked in attendance. This appliance was in preservation and there are other photos of it on this site however I haven't seen it for a few years. anyone know if it still exists?

Hi Paul, we bought this TK after the Firemans World museum in Minehead closed . It had a hole in one piston and the heat exchanger leaked the engine coolant into the water tank. It took us a while to get back to Bognor Regis. We sorted those problems, resprayed it, re-stowed the lockers and rallied it for a few years. We sold it to a family near Emsworth who sold it after the windscreen was broken. I believe it is still in this area, not on the road, parked on a farm or nursery.Hope this is of interest.Regards, Barrie.
