That bay is a health hazard quite frankly!! I feel sorry for the crew that have to work in such cramped conditons!!!

Peter, I have to agree with you on that, I also can't see how this station is fit for purpose. A simple workplace risk assessment would raise all manner of hazards that would never be reduced in it's current state. I Think the money would have been better spent towards a new station at a better location rather than spending it on a truck that is too big for the present one.

Peter I am inclined to agree with you but during the month of November we have had 4 different appliances! each with their own needs.

Plans are afoot to improve the appliance bay, lets see what the future holds....

Neil, or one of the Keymer lads, to keep my records up to date can some one confirm the actual date that Keymers MAN went on the run - was it the 26th as planned?. And the 4 appliances in November HX58 CNO, HX58 CNU, J75 GRV and ?? which was the 4th. Thanks for your help. Whatever anyone says about the size of the bay/station it is better than closing it, which was the plan in the early 1970s when an East Sussex station. Thanks, Jon Godden.

Dear All
I would like to say that sadly Keymer fire station (the one with crampted bay) is now closing on 31st march Budget cuts ummm

Indeed a great shame about Keymer, especially after the money being spent on a new MAN to fit the bay. Findon and Bosham closing as well, and 2nd WTL already gone at Horley, East Preston & Lancing, with Littlehampton and Burgess Hill becoming variable crewed to provide cover!

Jon,
Going back to your previous question the 4th appliance would have been Dennis Rapier M472 XCR, this was replaced by J75 GRV as the M regs had to go back to the lease company.

Interesting view of the old appliance bay. This is now someones lounge as the station had been converted into a bungalow.
