Staffordshire Ford Water Tender

CEH 930T: Ford D1113/CFE. Before Dennis, Staffordshire fire Brigade was dominated by Ford and Bedford. This appliance served at Lichfield and Gnossal.

It was one of four day-glows bought in 1979 and based at the day-manned stations at Kidsgrove, tamworth, Leek and Lichfield. The following year, Staffs bought three Ford D1317s, also in day-glow 'orange'.

The Staffordshire Fords had D1114 badges on them not D1113s.

Yes, the Ford badging was 1114 for the 11 tonne GVW chassis with the 4.9 liter six cylinder Ford 140 BHP turbo engine, which was used for quite a few fire appliances. The 1317 was a 13 tonne GVW version with the Perkins 8.4 liter V8 170 BHP engine - also used by Dennis, Dodge, ERF and Shelvoke in fire appliance chassis around the same time.

I believe Lancashire also bought pump appliances on D1617 chassis appliances, and a few of these were also used for aerial trucks by other brigades, due to the need for a higher GVW.
