the importance of being Worthing

New Scania P270/JDC HRT at Worthing. One of three, the others being allocated to Crawley and Chichester. Photographed in August of this year and none were on the run. Not to sure about the chrome mirrors and size? Compared to Shropshire's MRT at Wellington, the latter looks better. What say Pete?

Andrew,I sent a picture of Worthing's HrT into site when they first arrived some months ago.I didn't like them when I first saw them, and still don't like them.A single cab for 2/3 riders, this giving extra lockers would have looked better.
Mind you,I'm not a great lover of Scania's anyway, but I still take the odd picture now and then of them. Those mirrors, well over the years Worthing have been known to have afew accidents with fire appliances,so maybe they'll decide whether they like them or not and sort them out if you get my meaning.

I certainly do if ERF HP's are anything to go by.

I am not sure about the reasoning for the chrome mirrors.....the size of them (cant beat large mirrors from a drivers point of view) would suggest to me that the rear of them should be covered with 'hi-viz' tape....swing over to the wrong side of the road to avoid another vehicle and catch a pedestrian with one of those bad boys it would certainly give them a nasty headache !!!
Most buses now have 'dayglow' yellow mirrors for that reason.

Hi, As most truck mirrors are heated and have electric motors inside, this come a quite a price when the driver decide to hit bushes and tree's down narrow roads. To prevent this constant damage fire brigades are fitting these mirror protectors. The Scania ones are sold and fitted by scania. Wiltshire's Sabres had a mesh style protector fitted but they may be hard to see in pictures as they was painted black.
