As of now this Unimog is now of the run needing repair work at great cost as been replaced for now by one of our ERF Pumps. There is a possibility new Scania 4x4s coming home not sure how many with have taken delivery of 3 new Scanias. 2 to Wycombe and 1 to Buckingham should be on by end of march.

One of few appliances in UK fitted with "sparge" system, to direct spray jets down on grass fires whilst moving. See spray bar under front bumper.

The Unimog is a Mercedes off-road truck series, originally designed for agricultural use, then adopted by military and firefighting agencies in dozens of countries.

As I can personally attest, they are exceptionally capable off-road, and have no equals as brush or forest fire pumper-tankers. The largest ones can carry a crew of six, up to a 3000 LPM pump, a 4000 liter water tank and a fair amount of additional equipment. The 6X6 version can handle a 7000 liter tank, as well as everything else, giving it great autonomy.

They are sometimes designed as structure pumpers, with ladders, BA and additional kit, but this only makes sense if they have to contend with extreme terrain.

Unimogs also see service as rescue trucks, command vans, hose layers and heavy pump carriers. These last two types are used in Japan to assure water supplies in the event of water main and highway damage following earthquakes.

There are scores of photos of different generations and applications on this site, in the Mercedes section...

This was retired in 2018 and I purchased it in 2019.

Ed: do you use it as a working vehicle? or for displays?
