1953 Dennis F1 ME 44 2009 Crank Handle Rally
Another photo of my dennis F1 fire engine on display at the 2009 Crank Handle Rally held at Morpeth NSW Australia. I only recently got her back on the road after braking the selector fork in the gearbox. In the two weeks back in action, the Dennis has attended a fire station open day, taken girls to their school formal and the Crank Handle Rally. Thanks to Guy for finding the replacement part and to a good mate Big D as my kids call him helping me part it all back together.

Hi Barrie,
It has the four litre four cylinder Dennis engine with that dreadful backwards gate gear box.It is not the most powerful engine especially with the heavy timber body.

We have an F1 but the engine has been replaced by a Perkins which came out of a combined harvester. i know what you mean about the gearbox

G'day again Barrie,
I let my mate that came along for the day drive home. I thought he should have a drive since he helped me put it all bvack together. It was a fun ride home lots of crunching, our boys who rode home out the back couldn't stop laughing. I must admit, I was a little nervous driving over as I did not wish to error in the gear changing in front of Dave but it went so smooth I was very happy.

Aaron, I am attempting to compile a database listing preserved Dennis fire appliance for the Dennis Society, could you kindly provide some details of the origin of your F1....The chassis number would be great. The records in my possession show two F1s supplied to Australia in 1953, Chassis no 3721 (South Australia Railways) and 3800 (Adelaide). Many thanks Baz
