Fire Engines Photos

I served in the AFS at Salford central headquarters, and was there when BRJ was still operational, during the fire at Pauldens Manchester in 1957 BRJ333 was so close to the burning building that the varnish on the wooden plaque attached to the side of the ladder "City of Salford Fire Department"became bubbled, as I remember this was still like that when the appliance was replaced by and AEC vehicle, also 100ft ladder.The last time I saw the AEC unit it was in private hands and was garaged at a brick suppliers called Sylven Brick at Trafford Park.
