Ex Somerset Austin

This picture was taken by Lester Solway and is published with his permission. It shows an ATV registration GGX426 at Thanet Fire Station,Kent in 1977. This appliance served with the Somerset Fire Brigade and was last stationed at the Volunteer Station at Wrington until the late sixties. It then was passed into the ownership of the Kent Fire Brigade Museum who returned it to the NFS livery. Does anyone know if this appliance still exists and its current whereabouts.

When I visited the Kent Fire Brigade museum a couple of years back they had a similar appliance (which I assume is the same machine), being well looked after so I assume it is still around. Someone better informed would be able to quote registration numbers etc

The vehicle is still in the ownership of Kent Fire & Rescue and is part of their museum fleet. It is garaged at their headquarters in Maidstone
