Hi Morgan, many thanks for you comment. I visited 1 month after the towers came down and was allowed to visit Ground Zero with my Brother who is also a firefighter and some firefighters from FDNY as we stayed at a fire house in Harlem for a few days. It took 99 days to put out all the fires on site. I have been back to New York 4 times in total since the 2001, and took part in the Tunnel to Towers charity run to raise funds for firefighters in the UK in 2009 with other firefighters from my station. This event was a truly fantastic experience and a very moving event, but a privileged to take part. I could not get time off work to go to New York this September to do the run again, but 3 of my colleagues are taking part. We are having a parade at my station on Sunday afternoon to observe a 2 minute silence. I saw a picture of the Memorial Plaque now the scaffolding has been removed and it is really good, I hope to go back next year and see it again. R.I.P all those who lost their lives on that dreadful day. Paul.

Today, September 11 2021, is the 20th anniversary of the 9-11 attack, which - among thousands - took the lives of 343 FDNY members.

Let us all give a moment of thanks for the lives of these heroes, and all firefighters around the World who have given up their lives for other people they never knew or even met before.
