Old Perth Fire station Australia

Photo taken 16 September 2009

This was the first purpose-built City Fire Station in Perth, Western Australia, located at Murray and Irwin Streets. It was opened on January 1, 1901, and closed in 1979 when the Brigade moved to new premises in Hay St.

The building is classified by the National Trust and is now the Education and Heritage Centre for the Fire Brigade.

A new Central Fire Station in Wellington St has been standing idle for almost 12 months but the United Fire Fighters Union of WA have refused to move into the premises stating it is badly designed, unsafe and not functional.

See pictures this site regards same.
