Former London Fire Brigade AEC Mercury/Merryweather TL 241 FLM. Following on from picture 18915 Pete suggests that the appliance shown could be 241 FLM. Chris hopes that this is of interest. Taken 26 February 2002 in Norfolk.

Hi Mike, this was in Stowbridge - now long gone sadly. It would be interesting to compare with your pictures if you are able to post them here.

Mike - Chris is right, I should have said it was near Downham Market - sorry !

This cant be 241FLM. I dont even think it is a London machine. The footlockers on 241FLM were red. The station ID plate holder is too small too. Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure both appliances were ex Essex TL's .....one I think was 749 SWC...I'll have some notes/pictures somewhere ?...leave it with me

One was Essex one was London. I went there some years ago as stated before. The small station plate holder denotes it was an LCC purchase vehicle (FLM or CYE series). I've got an end photo somewhere of it

Hello Paul Wood, Chris Wood here!

I took the photo and others at the same time and the registration plates at each end of the vehicle said 241 FLM. I can't say much more than that except the faded lettering on the cab door does say London Fire Brigade.
Rick is correct in saying the second vehicle was 749 SWC.

No I was wrong !!..the rear TL is ex Essex 749:SWC...the one in the foreground is ex London....if you look on the rear cab door..it is possible (only just) to make out the remains of the 'London Fire Brigade' legend....the vehicles had been in this location for some time !...the paint on the aluminium bodywork has faded whilst the paint on the wooden lockers has disappeared !
