Parked next to Seagrave Engine 35, Ladder 9 is a Mack CF.
These Mack chassis were the backbone of the FDNY fleet for a long time in the 1970s, 80s and into the 90s, and were almost the only types on the run at that time, except for a much smaller number of American La France units.
They were gradually replaced by Seagrave apparatus, just as illustrated here, but FDNY kept many Mack M series specials on the roster for decades. I believe a handful may still be in service today as satellite tenders, foam pumpers and hi-rise units.
