Morgan, do you know which station in Dorset that this Land Rover was based. Did it have a pump fitted?

Hi Pete, can I pick your brains once again? I have come across a Land Rover forward control/101, I'm not sure what or where it came from. The reg is VAU 10J any info would be appreciated, Matt

Sorry Matt, the old brains not finding any info on the Landrover Forward Control reg-VAU 10J.I think you mean(110 wheelbase)110, not 101.
It doesn't show under'Specials'with any county brigade so could have been an industrial appliance. The Fire Brigades Handbook-Vol 1 on Special Appliances doesn't show this appliance, but it doesn't mean to say it wasn't with a county brigade. It may have been used for other activities such as grass fires, etc and the'Handbook'doesn't show those Landrover(Wrt/L4T/L4P, etc)types of appliances because I'm sure they run into hundreds that were operational with brigades up and down the country over the years. If I come up with any info on this one I'll post-OK, Pete.

The L4T in the picture has what is known as a gear pump operated by disengaging high/low ratio dipping the clutch and then throwing a lever.
I have done this many times when I served at B19.
She looks a little bit worse for wear than when I remember her.

Thanks for looking Pete, I will try and locate the owner, although I don't hold much hope, I think its been stood for a good 14 years, and see if I can obtain any further info likely to shed light on its history. I think its title is a 110 2b? Does that sound something like right?Regards Matt

Matt, there are experts who know more then me on actual types/models of Landrovers, so maybe they can add a little information.
Have you by any chance actually taken a picture of the Landrover 110 Forward Control reg-VAU 10J regardless of condition for us to see?, this might bring some interest by Landrover enthusiasts.Pete.

I have VAU 10J as a 1971 Land Rover Redwing FT7 Hose Reel Tender, with John Player & Sons (tobacco) in Nottingham. It was preserved by 1989
