Steve, the pulled snow plough is mostly an anachronism now but was not in times when a lot of heavy work was still done with horses or oxen or later simple tractors or trucks. They all were meant to pull rather than push. No hydraulics or front mounts needed. That's probably also why it's called a plough.
All, Unimogs are probably the most versatile medium size 4x4's in the world. If you order a new model the list of extras that can be factory fitted is extensive, front or rear hydraulics, front and rear implement hitches, Central Tyre Inflation System and power take-offs just to name a few. It's my favourite 4x4 by far. Regards, Steve
Steve, if you ever get a chance you should try to take a trip to the port city of Marseille on the French Riviera during the brush fire season.
As well as enjoying some really nice weather, good wine and excellent food, you will get a chance to see the BMPM practising - and all too frequently using some or all of their 43 assorted Unimogs. They have various versions, including the tiddlers, the big 4x4s, the rear-steer models and the huge 6X6s with a 7000 liter tank.
And you have to see these superbly well-trained young fire crews driving them to believe where they can go!
