Malta Police Rescue Tender - 1978
A visit to the Malta Police Fire Brigade produced sight of this ex. RAF ambulance, on the run as an RT. The date was 25th.November 1978. One of the two ex.RAF Bedford "S" Pumps can also be seen "peeping out" of the shed on the right. To say that the MPFB appliances were basic in those days would be an understatement! In spite of some very tall hotels on the island, I could not, at that time, find any trace of any type of aerial appliance in service.

This Bedford A Type ambulance still exists. It was converted into a camper and has only quite recently been taken off the road. it currently sits in a garage awaiting a buyer.

I would have expected this very basic level of fire protection would have perhaps made the Maltese cross?
