Obviously not to commited if it will be reverted back to the original colour - Ha ha! I think this is political correctness gone a few steps too far, seems like a bit of a waste of money to me.

Thanks for this Barrie, it shows the tendency in the British Fire Service nowadays to "dabble". Instead of public service, acknowledging public support quietly and with reserve, they get out a drum and bang it loudly to get noticed. Progress?

I hope the rate payers of Cheshire play hell about this total and utter waste of tax payers money ! i mean do the straight people of the world go on parades and have a fire engine painted blue ? crazy simple as that !

The other brigade spent a few thousand painting the cab roofs white do you remember ?

So to spray this pink then return it to red how much does that cost and so the tax payer not only foots the bill for this but the Police bill too ? you can tell Peter " Mandy " mandleson and his follows are in power ....

I think 6 firemen walking down the street in just boots,pants,wearing fire helmets and maybe carrying axes might have been just as sufficient in proving a point.This is totally way out of order,its wasting tax payers(mine&yours)money and there's been alot of wrong goings on recently in whats going on with tax payers money without wasting our money on'Pink Fire Engines'.

Well, all I can add further is, apart from the stuff mentioned above, is, why? It involves a brigade, needlessly, in controversy. Ridicules its standing in the publics eyes and politicises its role. I am not a homophobe, but more and more we see this in local authority nowadays, meddling and patronisation of a section of the community. If ever there was a time for an NFS, its when we see idiotic things like this.

Pink Fire engine? a semi naked man advertising smoke alarms? Is this how the gay community want to be represented? It all seems a bit too much. What difference does it make? Who cares if there are gay firefighters, does this really need to be promoted. Surely, if gay people feel that they are not being accepted into the Service as well as hetrosexual men and women are, then this sort of promotion isn't really helping! Is it?

Hi guys,
A change of colour triggers a whole debate. Let us be pc ourselves and limit the discussion to facts, and less on opinions? And not try to sort all modern social dilemma's? :)

I know not everyone likes the 'editorial' here but we've had to delete a few comments that simply went to far. A reminder on 'The editorial':
- politeness and respect are required to others (second and third parties). So no disrespectful comments please.
- on topic, so relating to the actual photo please
- discussion based on facts and not just opinions

We try to keep an open mind and allow contributors to enjoy it all but we (editors) are the ones responsible in the end. On top of that we have an idea what we want the site to be about and how we feel everyone can enjoy it.

This site is to be enjoyed by everyone including six year old young lads who like fire engines, by photographers who like to share their hobby, folk from every corner of the world and so on.
To make that possible we feel that there are some house rules required. If you don't like the rules then don't play. Soap boxes are for sale on other corners.

If I had posted this photo myself and seen the deluge of (opinionated) comments I would feel intimidated and not bother posting another one....

Hi Marcel, This appliance has been commissioned (rightly or wrongly ?) by the fire service which I very proudly work for. I took a photograph of it because (rightly or wrongly) it is quite unique. I elected to share the photograph with others and certainly did expect comments.....I do have my own views of course......what I didn't intend to do was to start world war 3.
Should you feel that this subject is getting 'out of hand' please feel free to remove the photo, I support your comments above wholeheatedly and your ultimate decision.

Barrie and Marcel, i never intended to offend anyone person or any group of people regerdless of their age gender or sexual preferences .

I personally am glad you took this Barrie and added it here, it does look different and i hope North Yorks don't adopt this as their livery, i just don't like pink !
