Kurri Kurri Fire Station mural NSW Australia

Kurri Kurri 349stn NSWFB Centenary

Kurri Kurri Fire Station was chosen to be part of the Towns with Heart mural project. The end result was a mural depicting a save at a house fire. The mural was officaially unveiled during the fire station’s centenary celebration by brigade officials.

For the trivia buffs among us, the girl being rescued is actually the current Captain daughter with the fire crew being made up of the current Captian, Deputy captain and Engine keeper of Kurri Kurri Fire brigade.

A great tribute to those in all emergency services worldwide who put their lives at risk to save ours each day .

Its a sad reflection on the history of kurri fire brigade when the family of a firefighter (who lost his life to a bushfire in 1965)could be forgotten about at the opening of this mural. Glenn Mcintosh (aged 9 monnths)when my father was killed, on service for the NSW fire brigade.
