seen at the war and peace show in kent was this essex hose layer now painted army green but still has that unique body on the back built by essex workshops
Why would anyone paint a fire truck green and pretend it's a military vehicle? Why not buy a military vehicle in the first place? I have seen an ex ambulance control unit painted to pretend it is an army ambulance.
What a shame to spoil such an unique, once proud fire appliance. I might buy a tank, spray it red and say its an all terrain fire appliance!!!

At least it survives in it's original configuration. Someone somewhere could restore it to it's original condition at a later date. I still bemoan the butchery of Teesside's CDC341K a rather nice Carmichael FoT, which got cut down to a short wheel base recovery tractor, and is thus now unrestorable to it's as new condition. I've also seen in a Commercial Vehicle magazine a Leyland Beaver TL restored as a flat bed lorry! So much History lost!
hi all i will find out if this was the vehicle with workshops...i used to drive this machine when i was stationed at E35...until it was replaced by the new one and then i transferred to E10..glad to see it wasn't scrapped...
