Calvin me old mate, well you know my feelings on Scania's,but yes at a savings off some £3,000 on each appliance leaving the roofs red makes alot of difference, and they look a dam site better. Now they just need to get rid of that terrible Batternburg strip along the sides, can't see that happening though.

Good photo. I hear there are 4 on order. Does any one have any idea where these are going to be stationed?
Hi Robert. The new Scania's are going to be stationed at Horsham, Worthing, Chichester, Shoreham, Horley and Bognor Regis.

theres a total of 10 , 7 are already in the brigade which are in order 1/ worthing on the run 2 chichester on the run 3/ crawley on the run 4 / shoreham going on the run tomorrow 5 bognor regis not on run yet 6/ horley not on run yet 7 / horsham just arrived 8 / east grinstead not yet delivered 9 lancing not yet delivered 10/ hayward heath not yet delivered
Robert, the first 4 delivered above have the original white roofs, the next 3 that were delivered to brigade come with the red roofs. The last 3 of the order not yet recieved, these will also due to the savings have red roofs I think?.

horsham / haywards heath and lancing will be red roofed and all future appliances
Why not just have red and save a lot of money? Sorry to be a grumpy old man but what authority can justify £30000 on a red roof? Add all this up over time and see how much has been spent on liveries alone, a crazy way to spend public money.
Both Horley's and Bognor Regises new Scania's are on this website, and both have white roofs. So the red roofed Scania's probably started being received after Horley's new pump was received.

Only 09reg with a white roof is the 09reg for East Grinstead. All the 58reg's have got the white roofs.
Does any one know when East Grinstead's,Lancing's and Haywards Heath's Scanias will be on the run?

Has any one been able to get some photos of Chichester's and Shoreham's new Scanias.

Danny,a picture of Chichester's new Scania I've already sent in to site,in regards to the one at Shoreham, well its exactly the same and yes I have a picture.I can't really see the point of keep sending pictures into the site if they are the same, except for registration number.

danny the last 3 i gave on my list have still not arrived yet there still at jdcs for whatever reason i don't know and yes i do have pics of shorehams and chichesters but there not mine so i cant for copyright but i will be getting them hopefully on the fbs visit on the 16th of this month
They've obviously had mixed feelings on the white roofs for a while, certainly on the older scanias and volvo water carriers. They painted the roof white then tried to hide it behind a black sun visor. They could still paint half the sunvisor white, to retain the some of visibility advantage white roofs give.
The last 3 are with brigade now but not yet on the run but are on stations. Personnel at Haywards Heath now on familiarisation and driver training, etc. Also,I photographed the one for Lancing(HX09 BYG)today so they should be going on the run soon. Rumour at this time says that these could very well be actually the last Scania's purchased by West Sussex(only a rumour)?,we'll wait and see what comes of this rumour in due course.

Very interesting about being the last Scania's being bought. Does any one know what they are looking to use instead of the Scania? Also if this is true, do you think this change of truck have anything thing to do with the change of Chief just a few months ago?
Don't forget we've got 2 Mans as well. Who know they might be the new truck and Pete any chance of seeing the lancing one mate ? I've got some for you as well.
Ok this moment in time. One of the new MAN trucks is sitting out the back of the Worthing yard. Does this mean that the new MAN maybe going to the retained at Worthing. Does any one know what truck Keymer has at the moment? Is it still there old M reg Dennis?
robert all i can say at the moment is that shorehams 02 dagger has been up there alot trying the bay out so need i say any more apart from watch this space
Calvin,I've sent picture in of Lancing's new Scania photographed last week, also your old 1970 Bedford Water Carrier. Crawley's MAN WrT/L was in attendence at Henfields Open Day on Saturday 29th,August so its still not on the run yet?.The new Scania RT's are also still not on the run?.

Does any one know how many call outs Horsham Fire Station receives per day.
Added by Danny Chatfield on 28 October 2009.
Can any one tell me why every time I've gone past Horsham Fire Station the past few months I've seen a Scania with a white roof in the main bay.
And also is there any news on whether West Sussex will be getting any new vehicles this year.
Danny, its proberly the old 1st,now gone as the second on station as retained pump.Reference new pumps for 2010 for West Sussex:-Its only rumours at this time so cannot confirm but the answer is yes,but I cannot say anymore because its all rumours and un-confirmed what the brigade is buying this year?.

Pete, just uploaded 20.1. from 2002. Secumbed at Arundel in 2006. My favourite fire appliance chassis for many a year. Shame no more are comming to West Sussex and other brigades. Photographed Horsham's new 59 Scania at Camberley last summer. Don't like the mirror reflectors on the new Scania's. Not a bad truck, but that's all it is, not a purpose built fire engine chassis. Any idea where the Dagger's are now?
Now they just need to get rid of that terrible Batternburg strip along the sides, can't see that happening though.
