American LaFrance at auction.....

Bob; thanks for the E-Mail of the Auction House's catalogue photos.

For fellow Readers, the American LaFrance is the classic Series 700 Pumper, produced 1947-1959, with the open cab ahead of the engine.

It has a "home-made" shelter-cab roof; and is labelled "Stark County, Canton, Ohio No. 1"; colour - Fire-Engine Red. It needs a restoration, and a good home: but, would be an unmistakeable classic American LaFrance on completion.

Stark County is in northern Ohio, 'bout 60 miles south of industrial city of Cleveland, on Lake Erie of The Great Lakes.

How it landed in the UK, must be a story in its own right.

Hope to hear good news of its eventual destination.

Does anyone know any news from the auction? Achieved results looked very reasonable (the American La France particularly good). Fingers crossed the Porlock machine will be joining the F28 line up for a future photograph soon. Surely these must now hold the trophy for the largest surviving brigade fleet?
