Dennis F131 Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade.

This rather nice Dennis was seen at the opening ceremony of Hadrian Road (Wallsend) in late 1989.
There were several machines on display here, some of them appear elsewhere on this site.

I do hope that roof monitor was remote controlled.

No-one I know would want to be perched on that narrow strip of roof, even if they could figure out how to get up there!

The monitor was entirely hand controlled, from the roof.

Although they are very rare in the UK, some other countries frequently place roof monitors (or "deck guns") on pump appliances. Of course these days they are most often very sensibly remote controlled, but the manually controlled ones were almost always installed centrally, which is much safer for the operator.

Hong Kong was a notable exception, with dual side mounted monitors, also on Dennis pumps.
