1966 Thornycroft Nubian Major Crash Tender.
Photographed at the 2008 Odiham Fire Show was this now preserved 1966 Thornycroft Nubian Major airfield crash tender-registration KYK 945D.
It was actually purchased in 1966 and was the first Thornycroft Nubian Major crash tender to be stationed at the Royal Aircraft Establishment(RAE)at Farnborough in the County of Hampshire.
With comments being made at this time on the site about Thornycroft CrT's,and this vehicle as been just mensioned,I thought I'd send a picture in for everyone to see of a classic Thorncroft CrT thats now in preservation.

Great machine.....pleased its been preserved....I wouldnt like to pay the fuel bill though !!!!

I was employed by MOD(PE)Fire Service in the early 70's and remember this appliance well, when the foam tank had to be topped up it meant lifting a 5 gallon foam canister upto roof height - boy that kept us fit.

I was one of the first to drive and operate this fire engine at RAE Farnborough.
