The truck seen here is the Hazmat unti from the fire brigade Maintal. It was built on a MAN LE 140 C chassis. The unit is based at Dörnigheim fire station.
Although some German fire services use AB system containers for hazmat applications, dedicated trucks are not uncommon. They are sometimes used as first response units, backed up by AB containers for mass decontamination, liquid disposal tanks and solid materials disposal...
This unit is based at one of the four volunteer fire stations in Maintal, a city with 38, 000 residents. The fire service operates no less than 42 fire appliances, rescue units, special operations vehicles, utilities, cars, trailers and boats.
That's one appliance for every 900 residents , amazing. Redcar(UK) pop.35, 000 plus vast industrial complexes has two appliances.

Craig:
To be precise, the units in service today comprise eight pumps, three water tenders, three special equipment trucks, one aerial, five personnel carriers, two pod carriers with nine containers, three cars, a command van, four boats and ten additional assorted trailers. I missed a few!
This does illustrate the kind of resources which can be brought to bear by a volunteer fire brigade once it can forget about paying any full time or on call personnel...
As an example, how many towns this size in England have a dedicated hazmat truck? I would guess between none and zero.
I might add that my former home town of Mannhasset on Long Island, New York, had a similar level of resources and a population of 43, 000, which is just a bit larger than Maintal or Redcar.
The all-volunteer department has five fire stations and operates eleven pumps, two 95 foot ladder towers, two heavy rescue squads, one 75 foot quint and five chief's cars, as well as two utility trucks. Although not primarily responsible for EMS response, three of the stations also house a BLS ambulance.
The approximately 200 volunteers respond to an average of four fire and general service calls a day as well as two EMS calls. Depending on the nature of the call and the time of day, between one and three stations are called out for the initial response.
All volunteers are required to respond to at least 25% of all call outs to maintain their status, and this is quite an incentive as there are waiting lists to join up...
