Renault Angloco Works Fire brigade Siemens

This Renault/Angloco was photographed in 1996 at the ill fated Siemens Factory in North Shields Tyne and Wear where it was the works appliance. The Factory closed down shortly after this picture was taken, and the vehicle passed to Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade, being based at Tynemouth. It was still at Tynemouth Fire Station the last time I was there in late 2008.

Very often factory fire brigades in the UK acquire their appliances as used vehicles from municipal fire brigades, because they tend to get very little use, but this is a case of the process happening in reverse...

The Renault "Club of Four" factory crew cab must have been a bit of a rarity in England - in fact any Renault was pretty unusual.

This appliance was acquired by Atmel as part of the purchase of the Siemens manufacturing facility. It was later donated to the Young Firefighter Association based at Tynemouth Station
