Somerset Ford Transit XYB514H

This picture was taken by Bristol Bob and is published with his full permission. It shows a Ford Transit on the run with Somerset Fire Brigade at an incident in the early 1970's. The brigade has two of these appliances which at the time were allocated to the Volunteer Stations at Wrington and Banwell. These two stations were passed over in 1974 to the control of the newly formed Avon Fire Brigade and in the next few years both of the volunteer stations were closed. The transits had a first aid water tank along with a hose reel at the rear and carried an LPP.
