Does anyone know the year that this model of Scammell/Carmichael crash tender first came on the run? Were they the successor to the Thornycroft Nubian Majors?

Thie cab looks a lot like the low profile cab used by Iveco-Magirus on some of their turntable ladder chassis.

These started to come into service in the late 70's the initial ones any way, and they did start replacement of the Mk 9 Nubians

This is the MK 10. In service from around 1978/79. The low profile cab idea goes back to the Mk 7. The machines were designed this way so as to be air transportable for overseas deployment.
Bill, this effectively replaced the MK 8 Bedford for size, used on smaller airfields. The last Nubian was the good old Dennis Mk9 which saw service well into about 2003 or thereabouts.
