Dennis F28 Ex Somerset Fire Brigade

The above photo was taken by Richard Murrell who now owns the above appliance and it is reproduced with his full permission. It shows 25LYD in the state that he found it in languishing in a scrapyard in the 1980's. After being retired by Somerset Fire Brigade it ended up in the hands of some london Firefighters who used it for Benevolent work and changed the livery to the of a London Fire Brigade appliance. The machine was in Somerset was only ever silver sided this being the unpainted aluminium and it never had a FIRE sign on th front. Where the FIRE sign is originally there were two amber flashers which were latter removed and two tones horns fitted in their place. Richard has done a fantastic job of restoring 25LYD to her former glory and there are present day photos also displayed on this website.

The two vehicles behind are of interest too. Firstly the big white van is one of those Ford 'A' series, a type which found use as Emergency Tenders or L4's in several Brigades. Whilst the car behind that is a P4 Rover.
I was lucky enough to own three different ones of these during the late 90's. Is it known if either of these two vehicle also survive?

Thanks for the information regarding the P4 Richard. Have you thought of checking with the Rover P4 Drivers Guild to see if its still in existance? I would have done it for you, but I'm no longer a member.
