This bit appears to be incorrect. Based on photograpic evidence, the lettering should read 'Cleveland County' on one line, then 'Fire Brigade' on one line underneath.
Nope, I am mistaken, it wasnt of this appliance I seen with "Cleveland County" in one line, however I have noticed on a Middlesbrough Station line-up in the late 70's maybe early 80's some of the Dennis' have County under the Cleveland. In relation to my above comment, I meant in my photo it is actually painted on.
To correct this Adam, we need a period photograph of this machine in service. Then we'll know for sure which version it carried in service. I'll check my files and get back to you.
The owner is right. My photo of it when just delivered has the brigade title on three lines as per the illustration. Oddly enough the R series pumps had the title on two lines.
Ron and Ian are correct, when new it had three lines of writing on the doors. After it's crash it was changed to two lines of writing like the rest of Cleveland's fleet .The previous owner had the doors sign written and he told me that the letters where bigger than they should have been. Ron , please may I have a copy of the photo you took when it was new , regards Stewart.
