West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Scania

[email protected] 2009 Scania/JDC Water Tender Ladder.
Well one Scania is the same as any other but I was making a visit to the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service's workshops,so first popped into Chichester(Brigade Headquarters)fire station for a picture of one of the 4 new Scania's soon to go on the run at Shoreham,Worthing,Horsham and HQ.
The appliances are all parked up respectively at the stations awaiting space at workshops to be fitted out when space comes available.
I'd like to thank the on-duty day watch on Friday 24th April,2009 for their hospitality(mug of tea) and especially the extra photo's especially copied for me from the brigads history, thankyou.

Pete, as usual, thanks for a grand picture. Am I alone though in thinking this has to be one of the daftest colour schemes ever? And at what cost?

John, everyone to his own opinion, but yes I'm not over impressed myself on this particular Scania livery,I'm not really a great lover of Scania's anyway. Now reference the actual livery itself, when the brigade first introduced this back in I think 1992(J Reg)on the early Dennis Rapiers in my opinion it was very unique for the time and looked good on a classic appliance, now though the brigade is turning more to buying Scania's,so whether you or I like it,it makes no difference.

Has any one managed to get any photos on Shoreham's 58 Scania. And if so, do you think you could load it onto this site.

Hi Danny,I took a photograph of Shoreham's Scania(HX59 CNY)just prior to it going on the run last Summer. It was parked up in the yard for weeks and of course did'nt have ladders on it and because I'd already sent this and other pictures in,I did'nt bother sending another picture in of another Scania.Due to your request again though, I will send my picture in to the site.Pete.

Ref the Livery, it was introduced in 1995, the 1st appliances to have the livery were actually the 2 BASU's followed by the batch of N Reg Rapiers. The Mk1 Rapiers got re-sprayed into the NEW livery later on.
