This TFD Heavy Pump Unit is equivalent to its Europe High Volume Pump (HVP) appliance which is widely used in UK.

Each squad operates two separate 4X4 units. One carries high capacity portable pumps, which can be operated in series or in parallel.

The second - shown here - carries the LDH.

The 4X4 configuration is preferred to cope with damaged roads which may arise following earthquakes, which may of course also destroy water mains - resulting in the need for units like this to relay water.

Tokyo also operates several Unimogs in this role, as well as these Hino and Isuzu trucks.
