Hey Bob! What's the story on the "Goddness" in the background..??

Added by Pavel - Perth, Western Australia on 19 March 2009.
The pumps are for Chew Magna, clevedon and Temple,
the first 2 are in use, temples was on the run but
have not heard of it for a while.
The Goddess seems to live at Filton Airfield,Avon
have strong links with The Gambia, all the old machines go there,i thought the Goddess was to go as a non operational water carrier but i'm not sure what the score is at the moment.

any idea if these midis are still on the run ?

Added by Simon Roberts on 16 April 2012.
Simon, 2 of them are on loan to Gloucestershire, i believe that the third one is at workshops.

Both these Merc midis have been sold to Gloucestershire and as far as I know are on the run at retained stations.

Added by Stuart Purves on 16 April 2012.
All 3 of them are with Gloucestershire now

How do they compare to full size pumps? The Sprinter chassis tops out at five tonnes gross weight, so the payload has to be pretty limited...

Added by Rob Johnson on 08 November 2017.
Water Tank: 500 litre. Equipment: Multi-pressure pump. Foam proportioning system. 30 m high pressure hose reel.
Chassis: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x2.

Crew: Driver plus three (total four)

Not sure on it's payload

Thanks Paul.

This will just about fill it up to its maximum weight limit, with the addition of a decent quantity of hose, BA and small gear.

It looks a lot like the type of TRV being operated by the Marins-Pompiers in Marseille, which are on Iveco Daily chassis. But these operate with three crew, recognizing that with only four the team still cannot properly work the "two in two out" BA protocol at structure fires by themselves.

So they are limited to attending service calls, automatic alarms, EMS incidents and outdoor urban nuisance and car fires. They do of course also run to structure fires, only along with at least one full size pumper, an aerial, a second TRV and a command car - fifteen or sixteen riders in total.

They do, however, run AS WELL AS full size pumpers with six man crews, NOT INSTEAD OF THEM...
