Isle of Man Hydraulic Platform

This is a picture of our Simon SS220 hydraulic platform based at Douglas fire station in the Isle of Man (British Isles). The vehicle is due for replacement next year and will be replaced with a Bronto skylift F32RL similar to the one we already have. The Simon hydraulic booms have been in service since around 1975 and have been re-chassied onto the current volvo chassis that you can see above. The yellow railings were added a couple of years ago as a health & safety reaction to an accident that occured in England in which a firefighter sustained fatal injuries after falling from the deck of an appliance. The booms can reach a maximum working of height of approx 75 feet.
