G429KBO Former York 5 t.l

This appliance was purchased from Wales by North Yorks to provide high rise cover because the other newer t.l K667BPY Scania / Camiva EPA 30 was always off the run due to ladder issues, this appliance then went to Scarborough being replaced at York by the merc alp, and has now been replaced at Scarbourough by another merc alp .

Only problem with this appliance was she was to tall and long to fit in properly at the fire station, so was parked outside like this or parked in the rear yard overnight as the fire station door could not be fully closed if this appliance was left in a bay !

For the last few years this appliance has been owned by Lothian and Borders FRS who bought it from North Yorkshire to use as a source of spare parts for their fleet of 2nd hand Metz TL`s. It lies at workshops at Newbridge parked beside ex Dorset Volvo / Metz TL D240 ELJ that L&B used operationally for several years as a spare TL.
