This one off 1957 International SC172 watertender with van Bergen bodywork was in service with the fire brigade of Lienden in the Netherlands. It was sold in 1972 to a works fire brigade, butt came back to the fire brigade and now it is perserved by them.

Internationals were to be found in several European fire brigades in the 1950s and 60s, in Belgium, Sweden and Denmark as well as being very popular in the Netherlands.

Almost all seem to have had front mounted pumps, and I have seen them with their first aid hose reels mounted either side of the pump too, for very rapid deployment.

This one has a long crew cab, going back to the days when eight or nine man crews were the norm...

Note the very long suctions on the roof. With open water sources everywhere, Dutch fire services often made use of their suctions, and still carry two really long hoses on each pumper, so they too can be set in very quickly.
