This is a Mini Metro (as they were still called in the 80's) service van. It is seen at Hartlepool Show in 1987. Just visible behind is Stranton's Range Rover RIV. THN949S.
Nice to see a photo of one of the smaller vans which often get ignored, but it's a Ford Fiesta rather than an Austin Mini Metro. The Metro van was very similar though.
also in this photo are the old cleveland fire brigade ford escorts used by ADO's and above for attending incidents during day duties or called out via home contact after hours with the old blue magnetic light plugged in to a jack plug inside car yes chris hall the good old days plus cleveland had the metro vans as well and they also had a couple of mini vans too.. while i think on the escort's replaced the old vauxhall brigade car's
if you look in the window of the fiesta van you can see a little yellow sign.. if I remember right this was the PETROLEUM OFFICERS VAN.. and even if my mind go's back that far!!! was it Roger Musgrave (smoking his pipe) was the PETROLEUM OFFICER..
The white Ford Escorts weren't just used by ADOs, my dad was only a sub-officer and drove these cars regularly in his role of a fire safety officer. Minivans were still in use in the early 1980s.
