One of eight heavy foam pump-tankers which are strategically positioned around the metropolitan area, to support the 40 smaller foam pumpers which are distributed at around half of the 80 main fire stations.
Unlike the smaller foam pumper units, these are normally only dispatched to fires where class B foam is expected to be needed, or is already being used.
As with most of Tokyo's extensive fleet of special purpose rigs, they have a full crew cab and are staffed by five firefighters, and are to be found at the "hyper-rescue" stations along with large numbers of other special purpose rescue and tactical support vehicles.
