What an impressive shot of an all-time great, a A.E.C./Merryweather T.L leaning into a turn.A superb machine to drive and operate confident that it would do all you asked. All credit to those of you who obviously work hard to keep it in this condition, keep up the good work. I am trying to find out if PRX 62 A.E.C/Merryweather TLP ex the then Berkshire& Reading Fire Brigade (Stn.1.Reading)is still in existence, if anyone knows of its whereabouts could they post it on this site, thanks.
Alan you and everybody with even the slightest interest in fire engines and AEC's might like to go and have a look at what is on here. www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=36152 All the best Andrew.
Andrew, Looked at the site as you suggested, what a find. The T.L. looks in fair condition, ripe for restoration.I especially liked the shot of the operating console everything compact and practical. As for its origins, the fleet no TL 16 and the position of the front repeater light leads me to beleive it is ex London, only a guess though. once again thanks for bring it to my attention. Cheers, Alan
Right, the fact that it's TL.16 means that it's an ex-Middlesex job (dating from 1962 and registered 22 ML) which passed into London on the formation of the GLC of course.

checked out that website mentioned. what a place of hidden treasures!!!. also linked to the scottish one which incidentally is not too far away from where i live. just shows what is still hidden out there.
Ian, Thanks for the info on T.L.16, did you know where it was stationed in Middlesex days. I am still trying to locate ex Reading (Stn 1 Caversham Rd) TLP Reg no PRX 62, the last time i knew it was being run in preservation by a fireman stationed at Finchley fire in G L C days.Hope you can help! Cheers.Alan Jones
Alan: Have you tried the AEC Society? Neil Frazer is a chap who seems rather well in with his AEC's as he is the web master of the AEC site and also has his own site aecsouthall.co.uk e mail him on here I think and see if he can be of help to you. [email protected]
It seems these handled unusually well. I remember seeing a London AEC Merryweather TL just like this one being drifted on Oxford Street in the rain, with the driver obviously in full control of his steed.
