Brilliant picture Chris, very simular to the earlier Bedford J5's, also
known as the'Baby Bedford'but with an unusual front which I must say
I had'nt seen before.Thanks for sharing this classic photo with us.

The Rally that is now Preston Park, was originally held at Teesside Airport, and was much more of a traditional Fire Engine rally that the Preston Park 'Motor show' is now. Also in the 80's there were several appliances which you don't see now such as this machine. I did photograph a former Durham Karrier Gamecock at this rally c1987, but I haven't seen that since then either.
What a shame there isn't a recognised Museum for the North East's extremely interesting Fire Brigade's History.

It looks like the Bedford which used to be at Skelton retained station up until about 1978

Like the ex Durham Karrier one of a pair that Chris mention's both the above and the Bedford passed to Tees Storage Seal Sands and this was picked up direct from there for the rally but sadly only one of the Karriers survive believed in the south been on e-bay a couple of times in the last few years, the North's biggest Fire Show will be at Preston Park on June 27th & 28th 2015 a lot of volunteers work hard to still provide a Fire Engine Rally still enjoyed by many !

I have been shown a photo of this appliance at Malton fire station in the late 60s. Dose anyone know if it still exists??

It was bought at at the fire engine rally and was last seen on a low loader going south but no idea if it was preserved or not
