Nice picture and an interesting machine, though I wouldn't want to tool this through heavy traffic!

Gotta agree with John; must be quite a rig to drive !

Obviously, the big boarding ladder on the back, is for the big jumbo and wide-body pasenger-jet-aircraft. There is a red Smoke Fan, and looks like it can move Disabled Persons in wheel-chairs, on a sliding platform ?

The ladder on the front bumper must be for smaller aircraft - it must be mechanically deployed - bet it unfolds in a pretty interesting fashion.....

Another interesting fire-apparatus that doesn't carry, or pump, a drop of water.

Thanks for showing us.

Well Pat its interesting if nothing else! I think its Tuetonic overkill though, in my airport days passengers got themselves out, or the fire crews threw them out! But hey, I am old!

Hi to you all! Where, if not in Germany, can you find vehicles like this one? And, a 4x4 Ttl?

Anders, these rescue stairs - in the more recent version, are also used e.g. in Paris, Singapore or Doha.
The recent one reach heights up to 8.3 meters which is high enough even for todays mega planes like the Airbus 380. They allow full evacuation of the aircraft within 90 seconds as regulated by international rules.
In everyday use they are mostly used in medicinic emergencies e.g. if a passenger has a heart attack as it is much cheaper and quicker if the plane stops in the movement area with the stair already near than taxiing to a finger.
Additionally the stair is much wider so that EMS and firefighters can work more efficiantly in such cases.
The stairs are wide enough so that 4 passengers can use them side by side.
Airport fire fighting trucks are usually all wheel drive as they also have to operate off the runways and/or in difficult weather conditions (snow etc.).
